Construction Project Manager - Sargent : Job Details

The Project Manager will lead projects and help build the operational foundation in the Greensboro region. This person will split project load with an existing PM and oversee 3–5 active jobs within about a 70-mile radius. Typical projects include landfill expansions, FAA airport work, and large-scale industrial sites.

This role is a fit for someone with strong field understanding and business acumen, who thrives in a fast-paced, less-defined systems environment. The PM will have a seat at the table for strategic discussions and will help build systems that enable growth. They'll manage schedules, budgets, and documentation, while also mentoring others and representing Sargent's values on the job sites and with customers.

Responsibilities

• Lead project planning, execution, and closeout on 3–5 active civil projects
• Serve as the primary point of contact with clients, trade partners, and internal teams.
• Partner with Superintendents to support and coordinate field operations.
• Maintain project financials including budgets, forecasts, and pay requisitions.
• Develop and manage schedules and procurement workflows.
• Contribute to systems and process development for the growing NC office.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with estimating, fleet, and executive teams.
• Mentor junior team members and foster strong site culture.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of civil construction experience in project management or as an APM.
• Background in heavy civil, landfill, airport, or industrial projects preferred.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Entrepreneurial spirit with ability to create structure and improve processes.
• Familiarity with scheduling and project tools (Excel, Microsoft Project; Scheduling or PM Software a plus).
• Comfortable wearing multiple hats in a smaller, fast-growing office.
