Job Description :

Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and driven Project Manager / Engineer with proven leadership abilities and a strong work ethic to oversee the delivery of complex heavy civil construction projects. This individual will play a key role in managing all phases of project development—from pre-construction planning to final project closeout—ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage large-scale heavy civil, highway, and bridge projects from planning through completion
  • Coordinate with superintendents, engineers, and field staff to develop and execute project strategies
  • Monitor all aspects of project performance, including schedule, budget, staffing, logistics, and quality
  • Conduct regular job cost updates, forecasting, and financial tracking to meet profitability goals
  • Oversee procurement and contract management of subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers
  • Manage submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and project documentation to ensure timely approvals and responses
  • Resolve technical challenges and field issues through collaboration with engineering and construction teams
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, industry regulations, and quality control requirements
  • Lead project closeout processes, including punch list, commissioning, and turnover documentation
  • Foster a team-oriented environment, providing leadership and mentorship to project staff

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related technical field
  • Minimum of 8 years of project management experience in heavy civil construction
  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies, project sequencing, and field operations
  • Ability to manage union subcontractors and coordinate multiple trades effectively
  • Demonstrated experience with project estimating, scheduling, and cost control
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • High level of initiative and ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Preferred: Experience with HCSS HeavyJob, P6, and SmartBuild software
  • U.S. Citizenship and valid driver's license required

Preferred Experience:

  • Marine construction
  • Bridge and infrastructure projects
  • Coordinating with DOT or other public agencies
