Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and driven Project Manager / Engineer with proven leadership abilities and a strong work ethic to oversee the delivery of complex heavy civil construction projects. This individual will play a key role in managing all phases of project development—from pre-construction planning to final project closeout—ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage large-scale heavy civil, highway, and bridge projects from planning through completion
- Coordinate with superintendents, engineers, and field staff to develop and execute project strategies
- Monitor all aspects of project performance, including schedule, budget, staffing, logistics, and quality
- Conduct regular job cost updates, forecasting, and financial tracking to meet profitability goals
- Oversee procurement and contract management of subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers
- Manage submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and project documentation to ensure timely approvals and responses
- Resolve technical challenges and field issues through collaboration with engineering and construction teams
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, industry regulations, and quality control requirements
- Lead project closeout processes, including punch list, commissioning, and turnover documentation
- Foster a team-oriented environment, providing leadership and mentorship to project staff
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related technical field
- Minimum of 8 years of project management experience in heavy civil construction
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, project sequencing, and field operations
- Ability to manage union subcontractors and coordinate multiple trades effectively
- Demonstrated experience with project estimating, scheduling, and cost control
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
- High level of initiative and ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Preferred: Experience with HCSS HeavyJob, P6, and SmartBuild software
- U.S. Citizenship and valid driver's license required
