Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Construction Project Engineer to join our team in Grand Rapids, MI. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction engineering and project management, with the ability to oversee and coordinate various construction projects from inception to completion. This role requires excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills to ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with project managers and other engineering staff to develop project plans, including scope, schedule, and budget.
- Assist in the preparation and review of construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
- Oversee day-to-day construction activities on-site to ensure compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and project timelines.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, quality of work, and adherence to safety protocols.
- Manage project documentation, including change orders, RFIs, submittals, and daily reports.
- Analyze project risks and develop mitigation strategies to address potential issues.
- Utilize construction management software to track project progress and report on key performance indicators.
- Facilitate effective communication between all parties involved in the project to ensure smooth operations.
- Assist in resolving any construction-related issues that may arise during the project lifecycle.
- Participate in project meetings and provide updates on project status and challenges.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant building codes, regulations, and standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in construction project engineering or management.
- Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, AutoCAD, Revit).
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites as required.
Preferred Skills:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
- Experience with sustainable building practices and LEED certification.
- Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling) processes.
