About Hall Irwin

Hall Irwin is a builder with a deep 60+ year legacy and a forward-looking, people-first mindset. Based in the Colorado Front Range, we specialize in high-performance multifamily, commercial, and mixed-use, and land development projects. We bring together the structure of proven systems with the heart of servant leadership, always aiming to raise the bar, on the jobsite and in our culture.

But we're more than builders. We're culture creators. Every project is a chance to lead, to grow, and to leave something better than we found it. Our core values guide not just how we build, but how we work, lead, and learn, and train.

At Hall Irwin, we don't just fill roles, we invest in careers.

Position Overview

We're looking for a Project Engineer who's ready to be a key part of our project team; supporting field and office operations while learning the full project lifecycle from preconstruction through closeout. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical skills, a collaborative mindset, and the drive to grow into greater responsibilities over time.

As a Project Engineer at Hall Irwin, you'll work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, clients, and subcontractors to help keep projects organized, on schedule, and moving forward. You'll assist with document control, coordination, submittals, RFIs, and tracking progress, all while gaining exposure to planning, problem-solving, and leadership in a real-world construction environment. This position is a great fit for someone who is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and comfortable working in a fast-paced setting. If you're ready to build your career while contributing to meaningful projects, we'd like to meet you.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Project Engineer, you'll be right in the middle of the action, supporting projects from day one and learning how every piece comes together. This isn't just paperwork and checklists (though there's some of that); it's a chance to work alongside experienced builders, solve problems in real time, and see your work take shape on the jobsite.

You'll get to:

  • Be the hub of the project: help keep communication flowing between owners, architects, subcontractors, and your project team so everyone stays on the same page.
  • Learn the ins and outs of construction documents: track RFIs, submittals, change orders, and permits while understanding why they matter.
  • See how the money moves: help prepare pay applications, progress billings, and subcontractor invoices while learning how budgets are built and monitored.
  • Get comfortable with scheduling tools: assist in creating, updating, and monitoring the project schedule to keep work on track.
  • Join OAC meetings: prepare materials, take notes, and help turn discussions into action.
  • Be on site: coordinate deliveries, check in with subs, review work quality, and help make sure everything meets safety and quality standards.
  • Problem-solve in the moment: when challenges pop up, help brainstorm solutions that keep the design intact and the project moving.
  • See the project through to the finish line: support punch lists, closeout documentation, and final billings.
  • Grow in a collaborative environment: work with a team that shares knowledge, encourages questions, and celebrates wins together.

If you're curious, detail-oriented, and want to learn how complex projects actually get built, this role will give you the foundation to grow into leadership positions in construction.

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • You own it: When you take on a task, you see it through and make sure it's done right.
  • You're curious: You ask “why” and look for ways to make processes smarter, faster, and better.
  • You see the big picture: To you, planning isn't just paperwork, it's a way to lead and guide a project toward success.
  • You lift others up: You share what you know, learn from those around you, and thrive in a team that values growth and accountability.
  • You're ambitious: You see yourself stepping into bigger leadership roles over time, and you're ready to work hard to get there.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who's motivated, curious, and ready to grow into a key role on our project teams. If you've studied construction, worked an internship, or even picked up skills on the job, we want to hear from you.

Here's what will set you up for success:

  • Education & Experience: A bachelor's degree in Construction Management or a related field is great, but solid hands-on experience counts too. Internships and co-op work absolutely qualify.
  • Real-world exposure: Time in the field or working on estimates is a big plus. Projects you've been part of, from small renovations to multi-million-dollar builds, all add to your toolkit.
  • Plan-reading skills: You can interpret drawings, plans, and specs, and are eager to learn how to do it faster and more accurately.
  • Tech comfort: Familiar with Bluebeam, MS Project, Word, or similar tools. If you've dabbled in BIM, even better.
  • Safety mindset: You know how to spot risks and take them seriously. OSHA 10 is great (OSHA 30 is even better, but we can help you get there).
  • Attention to detail: You take pride in catching small errors before they become big problems.
  • Communication skills: You can explain things clearly, listen well, and adapt to different audiences, whether it's the field crew or the client.
  • Multi-tasking ability: You can handle multiple priorities without dropping the ball, even when timelines are tight.
  • Problem-solving drive: You enjoy figuring things out and finding solutions that keep projects moving.

If you're motivated to learn, ready to contribute, and want to build a career where no two days are the same, you'll fit right in here.
