SUMMARY: The McHenry County Division of Transportation (MCDOT) is seeking a qualified candidate for one (1) Construction Engineer opening in their Construction Department. The candidate will provide construction supervision and inspection to ensure the procedures and material used, as well as the finished product, meets the requirements of the plans and specifications. The position and pay grade for the Resident Engineer will be commensurate upon the candidate's experience and qualifications. A candidate will fall under one of eight positions.LOCATION:McHenry County Division of Transportation16111 Nelson Road Woodstock, IL 60098REQUIRED: All positions require the candidate to possess and maintain a valid driver's license.To determine which position you may be eligible for, review the following pay grade specific details.Construction Engineer IV, Full Time, (14N), $39.62 - $52.50 / HourEssential Job Functions:* Act as Resident Engineer on MCDOT road and bridge construction projects.* Assist with or lead the management of consultant construction engineering contracts.* Communicate and coordinate with various agencies, engineers, contractors and may serve as a member of industry committees and task forces.* Assist with completing construction related RFQ'S and RFP's.* Attend County committee meetings as required.* Surveying required.* Supervise up to two (2) interns.Specialized Education and Experience:* Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited institution.* Possess Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the State of Illinois.* Minimum 7 years of experience as a Resident Engineer.Preferred IDOT Certifications:* Documentation of Contract Quantities* Mixture Aggregate Technician* PCC Level II Technician* HMA Level II TechnicianConstruction Engineer III, Full Time, (13N), $37.82 - $50.11 / HourEssential Job Functions:* Act as Resident Engineer on MCDOT road and bridge construction projects.* Assist with or lead the management of consultant construction engineering contracts.* Communicate and coordinate with various agencies, engineers, contractors and may serve as a member of industry committees and task forces.* Assist with completing construction related RFQ'S and RFP's.* Attend County committee meetings as required.* Assist with drafting resolutions for the Construction Section.* Surveying required.Specialized Education and Experience:* Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited institution. · Possess Engineer In Training (E.I.T.) license in the State of Illinois.* Minimum 5 years of experience as a Resident Engineer. Preferred IDOT Certifications:* Documentation of Contract Quantities* Mixture Aggregate Technician* PCC Level II Technician* HMA Level I TechnicianConstruction Engineer II, Full Time, (11N), $34.20 - $45.31 / HourEssential Job Functions:* Act as Resident Engineer on MCDOT road and bridge construction projects.* Monitor active MFT projects and ensure they are following MFT procedures.* Communicate and coordinate with various agencies, engineers, contractors and may serve as a member of industry committees and task forces.* Assist with completing construction related RFQ'S and RFP's.* Assist with the preparation of plans, special provisions and contract documents for MCDOT pavement preservation and maintenance projects.Specialized Education and Experience:* Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited institution.* Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Resident Engineer.* Survey experience preferred but not required.
