Job Description Job descriptionJob Summary:We are seeking an experienced Construction Coordinator to observe and oversee construction activities of Project Engineering-at the generating station. This role involves coordinating work between multiple contractors and company operations, while advising management on contractor safety compliance, quality of work, productivity, schedule adherence, and potential problems.Key Responsibilities:
- Observe and monitor contractors' construction activities for assigned projects across LG&E and KU facilities.
- Ensure safety compliance and adherence to industry best practices, recommending corrective actions when necessary.
- Identify and address performance issues with contractors, engaging management and engineering support as needed.
- Monitor contractor work for compliance with contract schedules, specifications, and quality standards.
- Review and provide feedback on design documents.
- Foster positive relationships with stakeholders including company personnel, customers, contractors, and Project Engineering.
- Document daily contractor activities with written descriptions and photographs.
- Coordinate work between multiple contractors and company operations, escalating potential issues to management.
- Ensure compliance with company policies such as Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), hot work, and confined space procedures.
- Facilitate communication and coordination between impacted departments and contractors.
- Prepare progress reports, assist with schedule reviews, and manage material delivery coordination.
- Perform other duties as assigned while complying with all company policies and standards.
Qualifications:
- Preferred: 10 years of supervisory or project experience (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Operational, or QA/QC).
- Strong preference for certification in project management or specialized training from an external institution.
- Demonstrated advanced construction management skills.
- Above-average communication and leadership abilities.
- Advanced proficiency in OSHA regulations and site safety standards.
- Experience working effectively with management, contractors, and their teams.
- Knowledge of quality standards for materials and equipment.
- Advanced understanding of equipment erection and installation methods.
- Proficient with standard software packages (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Work Conditions:
- 90% field work / 10% office work.
- Extensive standing and walking on uneven terrain in dusty construction site environments.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Anticipated 50-hour workweek; shifts vary based on contractor schedules (nights and weekends possible).
