Job Description Posting expires 8/21/25 Salary Range: $58,977.96-$78,735.58 General Description and Classification Standards: With the daily level of activities including construction projects, infrastructure demands, and micro mobility and sustainability projects that support the City of Atlanta through the Atlanta Department of Transportation there is a crucial need to capture visual assets that inform and advise internal and external stakeholders. Visual collateral is needed to apprise the public of the departments projects and deliverables and to augment various reports to leadership, City of Atlanta Administration, and the Atlanta City Council. Engaging a full-time proficient videographer / photographer is the most cost-effective way to meet key communications needs for the department. Supervision Received:

  • Works under very general supervision. Reports directly to the Chief Communications Officer.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: These are typical responsibilities for this position and should not be construed as exclusive or all inclusive.
  • Provides the lifespan of construction projectsthrough video.
  • Manages and orchestrates of projects that require assistance from contracted vendors to supply ATLDOT with updates for visual assets
  • Captures ATLDOT raw video footage and real-time updates on projects.
  • Edits and provides visual storytelling for social media, media pitches, static collateral, the website, and internal and external campaigns.
  • Conducts repository of visual content with the ability to capture, catalog, and perform maintenance of an archive of current and pastATLDOT photographs and videos.
  • Manages and orchestrates projects that require assistance from contracted vendors to supply ATLDOT with additional video/photographic production services.
  • Operates and maintains video and photographic equipment; inclusive of but not limited to photo and/or video cameras, lenses, tripods, lighting gear, sound recording equipment, computer editing station, digital storage equipment.
  • Selects footage, photos, and transitions effects either independently or in cooperation with the Communications team.
  • Operates a broadcast grade multi-source video editing system, special effects, digital effects generators, video graphics and titling systems, and audio enhancing systems to produce social media content and content for ATL26.
  • Works directly with the communications team to capture necessary photographs and videos to incorporate into promotional materials and reports.
  • Maintains high ethical standards and professionalism.
  • Provides transparent visual reports of design and construction transportation projects within the City of Atlanta.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule: This position follows the Citys hybrid work schedule policy as assigned by the Department of Human Resources Commissioner and requires in-person work at City worksites/facilities at least four (4) days per week, with the option to work remotely one (1) day per week, based on eligibility, departmental needs, and supervisor approval. The hybrid work schedule is subject to change at any time to five (5) days in-person work. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Education and Experience
  • BS/BA in related field
  • At least 3 years experience in commercial photography, videography, video editing and related field
  • The position requires one to have a commitment to deadlines and be open to flexible working hours.
Preferred Requirements
  • MBA or equivalent post-graduate education
Licensures and Certifications
  • United States Department of Transportation Federal Aviation Administration Drone Certification
Work Environment: Required physical and sensory capabilities to perform the job successfully.
