Overview:

At Gallagher Bassett, we are committed to being the best in the business. Thats why we are looking for an experienced Construction Claims Leader to lead our casualty construction claim professionals. Guiding the development and implementation of construction service and claim outcome strategies with data-driven insights, best practices, training framework, and talent management strategies.

The right candidate will also have a strong understanding of the construction process, from pre-construction through project close-out, enabling participation in presentations and quoting of prospect programs, defining and operationalizing service strategies, and quarterbacking post binding activities.

Key Attributes for the Successful Candidate
  • Advanced understanding of insurance claims and related operations, and a deep understanding and network in the Construction industry
  • Ability to interpret and articulate claims data insight and drive action
  • Proven ability to operate in an entrepreneurial, rapid-growth environment
  • Experience building and managing a 50+ person team, including experience managing second-line
  • The ability to attract talent at all stages of their careers, from a deep network within the Insurance community
  • A mindset that is both operationally driven and adaptable; proven experience implementing processes, setting KPIs, monitoring results, and the ability to pivot when required.
  • A combination of large and small company experience is ideal
  • Track record of developing next-generation leaders on your team as evidenced by their career successes.
  • Ability to driving superior claim outcomes.
Responsibilities:

Duties & Responsibilities

Operational Strategy
  • Establish a vision and plan for bringing our Construction claims capabilities under a practice (structurally in Liability, virtually in Workers Compensation)
  • Leading the development and enhancement of our Construction operating model:
    • Best Practices
    • Claim handling standards
    • Training and continuing education (new hire, continuous learning and practice roundtables)
    • Quality approach (i.e., audit criteria and implementation)
    • Oversight/escalation approach (i.e., what claims rise to his/her desk for review?)
    • Processes where distinct in Construction (i.e., coding, coverage review, tendering, etc.)
    • Operating and claim outcome KPI formalization
    • Profiling, evaluation and selection of talent
Operational Execution
  • Build and execute training plan for Workers Comp and General Liability service teams handling construction clientele.
  • Oversee processes and vendor services that drive efficiency for the claims
  • Develop and implement change management practices and procedures that enhance the construction claims organization.
  • Build key functions from the ground level while supporting the scaling and standardizing of other areas of business (including shared services operation)

Leadership
  • Partner with our Construction Vertical leader to bring our capabilities to market
    • RFP responses
    • Participation in industry conferences/publications
    • Participation in key sales presentation
  • Building and scaling Claims Operations function for GB Construction Vertical Practice.
  • Enterprise-level strategic decision-making on issues that impact the GB Claims team
  • Effectively control and direct the activities of the complex Claims Operations team bringing significant impact on the company
  • Lead the recruitment, interviewing, hiring and training of supervisory and management staff within Claims Operations
Qualifications:Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, or related field required;
  • 10+ years of experience in construction claim operations. with progressively increasing responsibility, or similar experience from related field (Carrier and/or Brokerage)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related
  • Proven track record of team performance management and employee relations items in accordance with company policy

Desired Education and Experience:

  • Professional designations for claims or legal professionals
  • Sales experience in the Construction industry is a plus
