Description:
We are seeking a Conflicts Attorney within the conflicts clearing team. Under the oversight of the firm's Professional Standards Partner, the Conflicts Attorney will manage the conflict resolution process related to new business intake, safeguarding the firm and its clients from risks. Periodic in-person presence is required for annual or bi-annual weekend team-building events and quarterly meetings, depending on location. This position can be based within a reasonable commuting distance of any U.S. office.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Process prospective new clients and matters intake for firm attorneys.
- Perform conflicts checks, review reports, and identify potential conflicts of interest.
- Communicate with attorneys to resolve conflicts.
- Obtain due diligence for new clients and matters as needed.
- Draft engagement, scope, and waiver letters to clear conflicts of interest.
- Ensure proper processing of new clients and matters.
- Coordinate with Finance or Legal teams for new business requests.
- Address questions related to conflicts, business intake, and firm policies.
- Maintain ethical walls and legal screens as required.
- Monitor changes in ethics rules, opinions, and case law regarding conflicts.
- Monitor client mergers and acquisitions to identify conflicts.
- Assist in maintaining shared documents.
- Perform special projects and additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and U.S. bar admission, preferably in a jurisdiction with an office.
Minimum Education:
- 5+ years legal experience, preferably in a large law firm focusing on conflicts or professional responsibility.
This position may be located in Illinois, D.C., New York, Colorado, or California. Salary ranges vary by location and are listed below. Actual compensation depends on qualifications and experience. Benefits include bonuses and comprehensive packages.
- Illinois – $124,000 - $186,000/year
- D.C. – $135,000 - $202,000/year
- New York – $135,000 - $202,000/year
- Colorado – $112,000 - $169,000/year
- California – $135,000 - $202,000/year
