Concert ManagerFull-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $65,550 to $81,950; salary commensurate with relevant experience.

Boston College seeks a Concert Manager for itsMusic Department. This full-time position is responsible for the management,promotion, and scheduling of all aspects of the Music Department's professionalconcert series, all faculty concerts, all student concerts sponsored by the Music Department on campus, andother occasional concerts and events.

Duties include concert planning,production of program materials, and related logistical and financial matters.The Concert Manager represents the Music Department in communications withmusicians, artist management agencies and outside concert promoters in allmatters, including negotiating contracts, planning program content and superintendinglogistical arrangements for concert production and audio/visual recording. TheConcert Manager schedules, promotes and manages Department ensembles in collaborationwith the directors of the department's instrumental and vocal programs. The Concert Manager works with faculty to promote interdepartmentalcollaborations for concerts, creates and administers the Music Department's concert budget, assists faculty with applications, and supervises studentassistants.Responsibilities include, but are not limitedto:

  • Planning and coordinating approximately 40concerts presented by the Music Department annually.
  • Administrationof rehearsal and concert logistics for the BC Symphony Orchestraand other Music ensembles as needed, and serving as a liaison for theUniversity Chorale and the BC Bands programs.
  • Execution of publicity and event listings: website, social media,posters, layout and printing of programs, commissioning of program notes,collection of performer biographies, communication with all individualsinvolved in providing this information, and the maintenance of information across sharing platforms.
  • On-site preparation prior for concert performancesand post-concert clean-up.
  • Supervision of transport and parkingarrangements for visiting artists, oversee the tuning, maintenance, and movingof musical instruments, ensuringaccess to such locked instruments as pianos and organs, liaisingwith ITS for audio and event technology, and, wherenecessary, the hiring or purchase of technology and equipment not available throughITS.
  • Coordinating room layout, stage preparation, lighting, heating,rehearsal time, musical instrument and technical equipment set-up.
  • Instructs and supervises student assistants.
  • Management of the purchase, storage, andmaintenance of musical instruments.
  • Management and archiving of documentationconcerning every aspect of the concert program.
  • Assistingwith faculty grant applications for concert events.
  • Attends meetings of Arts Council, MusicDepartment, ArtsFest
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Music, ArtsAdministration, or equivalent musical training.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in concertmanagement, concert promotion, and creation of program materials.
  • Strong communication and problem-solvingskills.
  • Ability to work within a highly energeticcollege environment.
  • Adept at time management and taskprioritization.
