St. Labre Indian School Educational Association Pretty Eagle St. Charles Job Description Job Title: Computer Support Specialist Department: IT Reports To: IT Director FLSA Status: Non-Exempt - 12 month position Salary Grade: 8B ($20.37-$23.95-$27.50)/hr. Approved Date: 07/01/2022 SUMMARY Installs, modifies, and makes repairs to personal computer hardware and software systems, and provides technical assistance and training to system users by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. *Indicates the non-essential duties and responsibilities.   • Assists in the monitoring of the networking system, wireless and Internet infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose technical problems.
  • Provides support for Chrome OS, Windows OS, G Suite for Education (GSFE), Microsoft Office applications and various other applications.
  • Assists St. Labre employees with the Computer Purchase Program.
  • Installs or assists in the installation of hardware and peripheral components such as Chrome OS/Windows PC's, monitors, keyboards, printers, and disk drives on user's premises.
  • Loads specified software packages such as operating systems, word processing, or spreadsheet programs.
  • Responds to inquiries concerning systems operation and diagnoses system hardware, software, and operator problems.
  • Instructs users in use of equipment, software, and manuals. Provides training to users.
  • Recommends or performs actions to correct problems.
  • Coordinates activities with help desk, network services, or other information systems groups.
  • Provides updates, status, and completion information to the director, problem request tracking system, and/or users, via helpdesk system, voice mail, e-mail, or in-person communication.
  • Updates or replaces defective or inadequate software packages.
  • Refers major hardware problems to service personnel for correction.
  • Attends technical conferences and seminars in order to keep abreast of new software and hardware product developments.
  • SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job has no supervisory responsibilities. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. A.) or equivalent in Computer Science (C.S.) or Information Systems (I.S.) from two-year college or technical school; and six to twelve months related experience and/or training required; or equivalent combination of education and experience. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to determine the root cause of technical hardware and software problems and to initiate corrective action.
  • Broad knowledge of technical support including, but not limited to, Chrome OS Devices, Windows OS devices, Printers, G Suite for Education (GSFE), Microsoft Office, Windows servers, Ethernet switches/wiring and WiFi wireless infrastructure and devices.
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from staff.

  • CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Valid Montana driver's license. MCTS, MCITP, A+, Network+ or Google G Suite certifications a plus.
