Position Overview: We are seeking a Computer Applications Specialist to join our team and lead the development and support of information systems that drive departmental operations. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, evaluate software and hardware solutions, and develop operational strategies that support LAUSD's business of education. Key Responsibilities: Analyze, develop, and implement innovative systems solutions Provide technical support and direction to project teams and end users Prepare system specifications and technical documentation Recommend long-term development plans and technical policies Conduct systems analysis and develop operational designs Monitor project progress and ensure timely delivery Education: Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor's degree preferably in computer science or a related field. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-to-year basis. Experience: Three years of technical professional experience in the development or testing and implementation of a computer applications system preferably in a major school district. A minimum of one year of experience using a fourth generation computer language is required and can be used concurrent to the above required experience. Desirable Qualifications: Ideal candidates will have experience with school business systems, distributed processing, and higher-level programming languages. They should also possess strong communication skills and the ability to evaluate new data processing techniques and develop strategic plans.
