Secondary Machine Designer

Designer will be responsible for designing a secondary machine and creating individual details from the received line-up and part math data.

The candidate should have at least 3 years in the machine/fixture design industry.

We currently design using the VISI Cad software, however we would be willing to cross train a candidate in VISI should he/she have the required experience in secondary machine design.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Machine Designer is Responsible for creating drafts and designs of the secondary machinery and

creating individual details from the received line-up and part math data in cad software, developing

BOM of components, and ensuring the equipment is built per print specifications. The Machine

Designer will coordinate with a variety of departments within the organization. This role participates in

the coordination and integration of equipment and involves liaising with mechanical design engineers,

controls engineers, machining specialists and project managers in accordance with all applicable plans.

Present designs and perform demonstrations of product prototypes. Machine Designer will be

expected to take various things into consideration when working on a project including cost, safety

and legal regulations, maintenance and the environment.

Summary of ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

· Knowledge of Secondary machine construction to construct in CAD (VISI)

• Research, design and create new products.

• Develop virtual models of different designs using computer software.

· Ensure work carried out is in compliance to company design, safety, quality, environmental compliance

and procedural standard.

· Analyzes assembly blueprint and plans machine building

· Create special detail prints for manually built details

· Obtain and assemble components to build a Bill of Material

· Verifies conformance of parts to BOM and blueprints, using measuring instruments, such as calipers,

gauges, and micrometers.

· Design to Fit and assembles components according to assembly blueprints, manuals, engineering memos,

sketches.

· Design in metal/plastic clip driver, sonic weld, and part checking operations. Familiar with metal/plastic

clip driving, sonic weld and part checking.

· Locate and place in Design , pneumatic components and plumbing

· Locate and place in Design, sensors, cameras, and switches for part and color detection

· Design routing and wiring up to the control panel

· Diagnosing problems with machinery and making repairs or replacements when needed

· Designing and manufacturing tools and equipment used to build or repair other machines

· Installing and testing machinery to ensure that it operates properly

· Allen Bradley PLC programming Knowledge a plus

· Follow all safety , Housekeeping and company policies and procedures.

• Determine the target audience of the product and the different ways in which it may be used.

Find out the manufacturing requirements by examining materials and production costs.

• Present designs and perform demonstrations of product prototypes for the approval of clients.

• Evaluate the function, safety and appearance of products to ensure they have a practical design.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

High School Diploma

Functional and Technical Skill

Ability to Trouble shoot issues

Ability to properly use Computer equipment and Cad software (VISI)

Attention to Detail

Excellent communications skills: interpersonal, listening, verbal and written.
