Position Details Position Information Position Title Composition Learning Assistant 2025-2026 Pay Grade Level SI Leader G2 FLSA Non-Exempt Benefits Michigan Public School Employees Retirement Systems Department Supplemental Instruction Campus Location Escanaba Min Salary $15.49 Max Salary $18.22 FTE .20 Full-time/Part-time Part-Time Position Type Staff Job Summary/Basic Function The responsibility of this temporary position is to provide assistance to students enrolled in the composition courses, with a primary focus on corequisite courses. This position will be providing support in and out of the classroom, as needed by students and the instructor. Minimum Qualifications
  • Demonstrated competence (at least an A-) in ENGL 101, Rhetoric & Composition or a comparable course.
  • Completed the equivalent of two years of college course work.
  • Strong foundation in reading and writing.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Prior experience with teaching or tutoring.
  • Candidate must be committed to student retention and success and display exceptional interpersonal and team-working skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Arts in English or related field.
  • Two years' experience working at the college level.
Months Per Year 8 Hours Worked Per Week 5 hours per week Work Schedule Mondays and Wednesdays, 8:30-10:50 AM EST. Office hours are determined in collaboration with supervisor.
