Compliance Specialist - Viking Forest Products : Job Details

Viking Forest Products is a leading commodity trading company with a strong presence in the wood products industry. We're the top-performing division of Forest City Trading Group—a $5 billion, employee-owned company and the largest distributor of forest products in North America. We're currently looking for a Compliance Specialist to join our team and support our growing import and export operations across the U.S. and Canada.

As a Compliance Specialist, you'll support Traders and their teams with domestic and international trade tasks—including imports, exports, and customs documentation. You'll work across all divisions at Viking Forest Products LLC and Gopher Mats LLC, and assist the Compliance Manager and Controller.

What You'll Do:

• Prepare and review import/export customs documents for the U.S. and Canada
• Classify products with correct harmonized tariff codes (HTCs)
• Reconcile monthly import transactions to ensure accuracy
• Review and approve documents from customs brokers
• Upload customs documents into our internal system
• Help train traders on importing and exporting processes
• Support or manage requests, inspections, or audits from agencies like CBP, CFIA, USDA, and FDA
• Assist with or lead special compliance projects

What We're Looking For:

• Bachelor's degree required
• 5+ years of experience in trade compliance (food/feed products preferred)
• Strong organization, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks independently
• Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office
