Position: Compliance Manager, Tax & Unclaimed Property Location: 4300 Wildwood Parkway Suite 200 Atlanta, GA 30339 Mode: Onsite Employment: Fulltime Position Summary: The Tax & Unclaimed Property Manager will lead tax audits and unclaimed property initiatives for the organization. This role is responsible for audit defense, compliance strategy, internal consulting, and policy development to ensure adherence to applicable tax and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in tax and unclaimed property audits and bring strong analytical, strategic, and communication skills to the team. Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead tax and unclaimed property audits: Prepare for and participate in audit meetings, respond to document requests, analyze assessments, and represent the company in discussions with auditors.
  • Manage all unclaimed property matters, including annual reporting, audit defense, voluntary compliance initiatives, and developing policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement tax compliance policies and procedures across the organization to ensure consistency, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
  • Review and improve existing tax and unclaimed property compliance processes, providing recommendations for optimization and automation where applicable.
  • Lead the analysis and review of tax and unclaimed property reserves, ensuring adequate documentation and risk assessment.
  • Monitor and manage risk-based tax programs to maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Conduct or oversee internal investigations of tax compliance issues, coordinate with legal counsel as necessary, and file required reports with appropriate regulatory agencies.
  • Stay informed of industry changes, regulations, trends, and best practices, evaluating their potential impact on company policies and processes.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year accredited college or university (or equivalent) required.
  • Minimum of 5-6 years of relevant experience in tax audits and/or unclaimed property management.
  • Strong understanding of tax compliance frameworks, regulatory reporting requirements, and unclaimed property laws.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage cross-functionally and externally.
  • High attention to detail with strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications (Bonus Points):
  • CPA license.
  • A mix of public accounting and corporate industry experience.
