Position Summary: This position performs engineering work related to emission certification, product safety, and cyber security. The position is focused on the development of reciprocating gas and diesel engines and systems.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Development of the Design Validation Plan (DVP) for emissions measurements
  • Preparation, coordination, and execution of engine emission testing and measurements
  • Coordination of Production Line Test (PLT) emission measurements for diesel and gaseous engines
  • Creation of emission test reports following test execution and engineering judgments in the RRS internal Emission Database (EDB)
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and document engineering judgments and justifications based on test data analysis
  • Evaluation of emissions legislation and regulations regarding technical feasibility
  • Evaluation of new and existing products regarding cybersecurity
  • Research and evaluation of new cybersecurity technologies, architecture patterns, or methodologies
  • Responsible for assessing and promoting functional safety, product safety, and HS&E aspects of assigned projects
  • Coordination of Project & Product Safety topics with relevant contact points inside and outside the company
  • Support, moderation, and coordination of the project team and related departments in preparing necessary safety analyses and documents
  • Responsible for on-site assessing of safety and cybersecurity compliance and, if necessary, coordinating remedial measures
  • Communicate any deviations to the project team, project manager, and sub-project manager of technology
  • Promotes a compliance culture in area of responsibility, and live the letter and the spirit of the Rolls-Royce Code of Conduct
  • Perform special projects as required

Basic Requirements:

  • Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S without sponsorship.

  • Bachelor's Degree in the Automotive, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer science, or equivalent engineering degree

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong oral, and written communication skills
  • Experience working with emissions legislation
  • Experience in Linux, RTOS or automation systems (PLC) as an architect or security engineer
  • Experience working with a development lifecycle that meets the requirements of typical cyber security standards, such as: IEC 62443 Series, IACS UR E26/E27, ETSI EN 303 645, ISO/SAE 21434, NIST 800 Series, ED-202A, etc.
  • Preferred knowledge of diesel and gas engines and principles of combustion design
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Proficient with PC and MS Office Suite
  • Excellent organizational, planning and follow up skills
  • Willingness to travel abroad for business
