Full-Time Companion for an Active Gentleman - Lafayette Hill, PA ( Previous Alzheimer's or Memory Care Experience Required) Monday-Friday, 9 AM - 5 PM (With Some Flexibility) This family is seeking a kind, compassionate, and dependable caregiver to provide support to a wonderful gentleman (the principal) and his wife, who is currently his sole caregiver. The principal is still an active person who enjoys tennis, squash, golf, and other physical activities, but requires supervision and assistance due to his Alzheimer's diagnosis, to ensure his safety, engagement, and enjoyment of daily life. This role is as much about companionship and encouragement as it is about practical care. The caregiver must be warm and friendly, yet able to be firm and provide clear direction when needed. This is also very much about supporting the principal's wife so she can take some things off her plate and care for herself, enjoy lunches out with friends, go to her appointments, etc. The family hopes to find someone who will stay with them for the long term, become familiar with their routines, and get to know their children and grandchildren-becoming a trusted and valued part of the family. Key Responsibilities
- Accompany the principal to daily and weekly activities, ensuring he has the appropriate gear and is prepared to participate.
- Encourage engagement and provide gentle guidance to help him stay active, stimulated, and safe.
- Offer consistent companionship and oversight throughout the day.
- Assist his wife with light housekeeping, including tidying, laundry, errands, meal preparation (lunch and some dinner prep), and occasional light cleaning.
- Provide safe and reliable transportation using your own vehicle (mileage and wear-and-tear costs covered).
- Communicate effectively with his wife and family members about needs, concerns, and daily happenings.
Qualifications
- Experience working with seniors, specifically individuals with Alzheimer's disease, is essential.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt to changes in abilities and needs over time.
- A self-starter who can recognize what needs to be done without constant direction.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a family that has limited experience managing household staff.
- Reliability, trustworthiness, and a positive, supportive demeanor.
- Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and a dependable personal vehicle.
What Works Best in This Role We are looking for someone who understands that the demands and routines of Alzheimer's care will evolve over time-and who is prepared to adjust with compassion and flexibility. The right person will be proactive in suggesting solutions, skilled at balancing activity with safety, and attuned to the emotional and physical needs of both the principal and his wife. Above all, the ideal candidate will bring warmth, stability, and a genuine commitment to building a lasting relationship with the family.Compensation & Benefits
