  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with five years of experience;
  • Master's Degree in social work, psychology, guidance, and counseling, education or other related field preferred;
  • Minimum of three (3) years in the delivery of a variety of social service and or education programs;
  • Knowledge of community-based social services agencies and resources in the area;
  • Ability to work collaboratively with parents, community service providers and school staff;
  • Skilled in providing training to parents on a variety of topics related to the general development of young children;
  • Bilingual (English/ Spanish) preferred;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Provide proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status by completing Federal Form I-9 in compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.
  • Provide evidence that a criminal record history check has been conducted and clearance has been given by the Department of Education. During the initial six month period provide a sworn statement that the individual has not been convicted of a crime or a disorderly person's offense in accordance with 18A:6- 7.1.
  • Provide evidence that health is adequate to fulfill the job functions and responsibilities with reasonable accommodation pursuant to 42 U.S.C. 12101 and in accordance with N.J.A.C. 6:3-4A.4
  • Pass the state required Mantoux Intradermal Tuberculin Test as required by N.J.A.C. 6:3-4A.4.
  • Meet such alternates to the above qualifications, as the Superintendent may deem appropriate, acceptable and legal.
  • REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Early Childhood and/or designee JOB GOAL: To work with schools, parents and community-based social services agencies to ensure access to the Pleasantville Public Schools Early Childhood Programs and community social services resources for early childhood students. To plan, develop, implement and coordinate the parent involvement program as described in the Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4 and Kindergarten programs. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop and facilitates family need assessment in conjunction with social workers, DHS coordinating social worker, ECAS, family workers'
  • Staff the Early Childhood Advisory Council, and coordinate regular meetings under the direction of the ECH supervisor and in conjunction with the ECAC chair;
  • Organize and oversee district-wide preschool parent involvement activities/ workshops, coordinating with teachers, master teachers, social workers and family workers;
  • Assist teachers, social workers and family workers in referring families to various community based organizations as needed;
  • Assist teachers, social workers and family workers in facilitating parental follow-up with other district personnel as needed i.e. nurse, child study team, attendance officer and principal;
  • Perform such additional duties and activities the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
