Community Outreach Technician

CDM Smith is actively seeking dedicated Technicians to engage in neighborhood canvassing throughout Pennsylvania as part of the Lead Service Replacement Program. Join one of the world's leading firms that delivers innovative, effective solutions to tackle lead contamination in drinking water. This position is full-time and temporary, with travel required within Pennsylvania.

Locations: Pittsburgh, Uniontown, Coatesville, Mechanicsburg, Nazareth

As a Community Outreach Technician, you will:

  • Conduct thorough research and fieldwork, including neighborhood canvassing, to identify, evaluate, and document the materials of customer-side water service lines as part of the Lead Service Line Replacement Program.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision to perform both field and office tasks related to data collection, assessment, and reporting.
  • Document inspection findings and effectively communicate any issues to project leadership.
  • Engage with homeowners and project leaders to provide updates on project progress and status.
  • Research TAP Cards and extract relevant data from them.
  • Take clear photographs of home exteriors, including house numbers, and document interior service line materials.
  • Walk designated areas to conduct inspections and gather field data using tablets, smartphones, and computers.
  • Create detailed reports based on findings from home material identification inspections.
  • Adhere to guidelines and regulations, including permits and safety standards.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent; no prior experience necessary. Travel within the state may be required depending on duties, responsibilities, and workload. Additional directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Driver's License Requirements:

  • A valid driver's license is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in canvassing, inspections, or construction is advantageous. Ability to quickly learn about the client's products and services is essential. The role demands extended periods of walking and may require accessing basements and crawl spaces under various field conditions. A reliable vehicle is needed for travel between project sites.

Travel Requirements: 70% travel is expected.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Basic knowledge of computer software programs and operating systems.
