Responsibilities
Community Center and Community Engagement
- Establish and maintain partnerships with key stakeholders and leaders in the community, and potential new collaborators to strengthen program impact.
- Develop and implement strategies for outreach, inclusivity, and support to members of the community.
- Work closely with Corps Officers to ensure new and ongoing partnerships are aligned missionally with The Salvation Army.
- Respond to inquiries concerning partnerships and rentals, and maintain facility use calendar up to date.
- Review necessary documentation for rentals to uphold compliance with organizational policy and local and state law.
- Oversee the operation and use of the community center, including opening/closing procedures, scheduling, facility usage, and maintenance in coordination with building staff.
- In coordination with Corps Officers, be on site for rentals to monitor appropriate use of the facilities, which can include evening, weekends, and holidays.
East Harlem Hoops Basketball Program
- Work together with league commissioners to ensure smooth league operations. Oversee organization of games, tournaments calendars, travel logistics, expenses, and supervise social media use, providing mentorship as needed.
- Prepare and give devotionals before every game and provide chaplaincy support for players, and other league participants.
- Act as coach for the local team in the tournament and schedule practices as needed.
- Connect league members to other services provided or hosted by The Salvation Army (job and educational training, legal, social services, etc.)
- Maintain program records, gather and analyze feedback from players and spectators, report insights to Corps Officers, and implement improvements to enhance participant outcomes.
Miscellaneous Responsibilities
- Assist with seasonal fundraising campaigns and special concerts/events
- Any other task as designated by the Corps Officer(s) that would be beneficial to the continued development and growth of the Manhattan Citadel Corps.
Qualifications
- Minimum bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and have at least two years of experience in social work, education, recreation, nonprofit management, or a related field.
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred.
- Basic office skills including the use of computers, Word, Excel, Outlook mail and calendars, etc.
- Strong communications skills, positive attitude, initiative, flexibility, dependability, and ability to work both independently and as a member of a professional team.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise staff and volunteers, manage programs, and run events.
- Be self-motivated and hard working.
- Active, uniform wearing Salvationist preferred.
