Peer Support is needed in our Adult Intensive Services unit at our Community Center in Wheaton, Monday through Friday from 8:00 am until 4:30 pm.
Position: Recovery Support Specialist
As a Recovery Support Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting engagement and treatment for behavioral health clients, working with our Psychosocial Rehabilitation and CST teams. The Recovery Support Specialist will role model positive recovery behaviors and assist in identifying clients' needs.

Responsibilities:
Use personal recovery experiences to facilitate and support behavioral health recovery.Teach psychosocial rehabilitation classes to increase insight, enhance community, and encourage recovery.Plan and organize social programs to benefit client needs; empower clients to progress through recovery phases.Encourage clients to address other healthcare needs, including primary and dental care; support in establishing wellness and healthcare goals.Provide a supportive environment for client activities; engage clients in skill training, socialization, or pre-vocational activities; document attendance and progress.Help integrate individuals into the community through activities aimed at improving independence and socialization.Participate in client care and interdisciplinary team meetings; assist in implementing program goals.Provide recovery-based services in the community to clients with severe mental illness.Participate in emergency activities as assigned.Maintain required training, licensure, and certification.Ensure confidentiality and adhere to client privacy laws.Demonstrate sensitivity and understanding of diverse ethnic groups and cultures.Qualifications:
- Two years of experience in behavioral health, including active participation in recovery, or equivalent training and experience.
- Must obtain Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) certification within 18 months of hire.
- Designated positions may require additional certifications such as WRAP or HARP.
