Job Overview: As a Community Manager, you will provide strong leadership and management direction on behalf of the Board of Directors and FirstService Residential. This position will oversee the entire operation and consistently adhere to and execute the mission and vision of the Board and community. This role has oversight of all aspects related to the business and operations of the community. The purpose of this role is to create a single point of contact in the community, enhance communication, and create effective oversight of staff and operations. The Community Manager is responsible for day-to-day operations, legal compliance, and overall oversight of the association and staff.
Your Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and direction in the development of short-term and long-range plans. Develop recommendations for goals and action plans to achieve Board objectives. Lead annual goal setting. Review organization structure, job descriptions, and functions. Make recommendations to the Board regarding potential changes. Partner with public, private, and volunteer organizations to provide community services when necessary. Support the activities of the various Board sub-committees. Have knowledge of all Community Governing documents and provide recommendations on revisions. Ensure seamless communication between the Board of Directors and committees. Provide community leadership and guidance to address the needs or desires of homeowners. In partnership with the Board, create and implement the annual working budget, subject to approval by the Board of Directors. Monitor and report on the monthly financial position of the association. Lead meetings involving the Board of Directors, support agendas, and provide reports. Summarize meeting priorities with appropriate follow-up. Recruit, hire, train, and supervise all community staff according to the management plan. Work with local emergency organizations to maintain emergency and evacuation plans. Confer with departments, divisions, outside agencies, and community groups to develop and implement programs to meet community needs. Assess community needs, identify opportunities for service improvements, and implement new or improved programs. Participate in professional groups, stay updated on trends in community management and programming. Maintain visibility throughout the communitys common areas and facilities. Ensure all agreements are implemented properly. Adhere to master and maintenance calendars, budgets, and subsidy programs. Review policies regularly for compliance with legal and governing requirements. Perform building inspections and develop action plans for improvements. Protect client funds, property, and assets against contingencies or losses. Maintain regular attendance and punctuality. Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in business or related field, with three years experience in property operations, hospitality, or construction, or equivalent. Certifications/licenses are preferred but not required. At least seven years of community management experience, including four years supervising staff with diverse expertise. Management experience in a small or medium organization, overseeing multiple departments preferred. Understanding of physical building management, condominium law, and financial law relevant to property management. Valid drivers license and insurance. Commitment to obtaining professional designations such as CPM, PCAM, ARM, or AMS. Physical Requirements / Working Environment
