- Develop and implement comprehensive internal and external communications strategies that align with CII's mission and organizational priorities.
- Lead integrated communications campaigns to increase program awareness, support client enrollment, and deepen community engagement.
- Act as CII's lead publicist and media contact; build and maintain relationships with reporters, editors, influencers, and elected officials' communication teams across local, regional, and national platforms.
- Draft and pitch press releases, media advisories, op-eds, and talking points to secure earned media coverage and increase organizational visibility.
- Develop compelling narratives that highlight CII's mission, programs, client success stories, and measurable impact.
- Create donor communications, fundraising materials, event collateral, and impact storytelling pieces to advance fundraising and donor engagement efforts.
- Design and implement internal communications strategies to inform and engage staff, partnering with Human Resources on newsletters, leadership updates, and engagement tools.
- Collaborate with outreach and program teams to develop culturally responsive, multilingual materials that introduce individuals and families to CII's services and build community trust.
- Ensure consistency in brand voice, tone, and style across all communications platforms.
- Manage crisis communications and support reputation management efforts.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES - Research and coordinate leadership speaking opportunities at national, state, and local conferences.
- Prepare CII leadership and program staff for interviews and public speaking engagements.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES - This role has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION & EXPERIENCE - Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.
- 4-6+ years of experience in relevant roles.
- Exceptional storytelling, writing, and editing skills.
- Proven ability to build media relationships and secure coverage.
- Experience developing strategic campaigns across digital and print platforms.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with diverse stakeholders, including clients, community members, and internal staff.
- Understanding of equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive communications.
- Bilingual or multilingual (Spanish highly preferred).
- Familiarity with the Los Angeles and California media landscape and community.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed or strength-based communication practices.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS - Capable of translating business and operational plans into actionable marketing and communications strategies in alignment with CII's goals.
- Reliable transportation to and from worksites as needed.
- Required to travel to sites once a week (less than 25% of the time).
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to handle confidential information.
- Maintains client and employee privacy, including protecting the confidentiality, safeguarding the integrity and availability, and limiting the use and disclosure of patient Protected Health Information (PHI) to authorized individuals and entities.

COMPENSATION: $84,641.00 USD - $103,262.00 USD In accordance with California law, the expected pay range for this position is included in this posting. The actual compensation will be determined based on factors permitted by law. New hires will be offered a salary at the starting point of the range to maintain internal inequity and allow opportunity for future salary growth. CII salaries are determined based on comprehensive internal and external market analysis, as well as the skills, education, and experience relevant to each position.
