Commissioning Manager – Mission Critical | Data Center Projects
RSP Group is working with a leading General Contractor looking for a Commissioning Manager to lead end-to-end commissioning efforts for mission-critical facilities, including hyperscale data centers, colocation sites, and high-performance infrastructure. This site-based role will lead cross-functional commissioning efforts from planning and documentation through testing, turnover, and post-occupancy optimization. You will serve as the technical authority and CX leader on-site, ensuring performance, safety, and schedule alignment across all systems.
Project Info: $1.2-2bn project, runs for another 5 years minimum.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of commissioning plans and schedules
- Coordinate all CX documentation, test scripts, equipment verification, and issue logs.
- Serve as the liaison between construction, QA/QC, trades, equipment vendors, engineers, and client teams.
- Conduct pre-functional inspections, start-up readiness reviews, and performance verification.
- Chair commissioning meetings and track progress against the CX schedule.
- Audit and manage all commissioning records and reporting to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Lead system turnover coordination, ensuring seamless transition to operations and facilities teams.
- Maintain the observations and issue tracking log with clear ownership and resolution timelines.
- Mentor junior staff and drive process improvement.
- Coordinate with Project Management and Field Superintendents to meet deadlines and owner expectations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience in commissioning or MEP construction).
- Proven understanding of mission-critical/data center commissioning processes, systems, and field execution.
- OSHA 30 and NFPA 70E certifications required; strong commitment to jobsite safety protocols.
- Hands-on experience with commissioning and document management platforms (e.g., CxAlloy, Facility Grid, Bluebeam).
- Solid analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills; attention to detail across technical scopes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to collaborate across trades, vendors, and owner teams.
- Willingness to travel to project sites nationwide.
