The Commissioning Engineer plays a key role during project closeout phases, supporting multiple job sites and requiring strong technical, administrative, and communication skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide field-based commissioning support on solar construction sites, ensuring system functionality aligns with project design and operational criteria.

• Review, interpret, and track commissioning plans, test procedures, and documentation to ensure thorough validation of system performance.

• Communicate regularly with onsite vendors, subcontractors, and technicians to resolve commissioning-related issues and maintain alignment with project goals.

• Evaluate and verify startup testing results for key systems and components; document deficiencies and assist in resolving non-conformance items.

• Conduct walkthroughs and punch list reviews during project closeout; assist with final turnover documentation and reports.

• Support the Project Engineer and Construction teams with final inspections, redlines, and test package submissions.

• Manage and organize commissioning records using digital platforms such as Procore and Bluebeam.

• Contribute to the development and refinement of internal commissioning procedures and best practices.

• Strong understanding of commissioning processes, testing protocols, and system integration—preferably within the solar or electrical infrastructure industries.

• Working knowledge of electrical systems and field installation practices.

• Comfortable reviewing and interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and testing documentation.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage confidently with field teams, vendors, and engineers.

• Proficient in Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite.

• Organized, proactive, and able to manage shifting priorities across multiple sites.

• Willingness to travel frequently to support closeout and commissioning efforts.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field required.

• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.

• 2–4 years of commissioning experience, preferably on utility-scale solar or electrical projects.

• Prior project engineering experience in a construction setting strongly preferred.

• Experience managing closeout documentation, commissioning logs, and vendor coordination.

Pre-Employment Requirement:

Candidates who accept an offer of employment are required to undergo and successfully complete a pre-employment physical examination. This exam ensures that all potential employees meet the necessary health and fitness standards for the role. The examination includes a series of tests and evaluations conducted by a certified medical professional to assess overall physical health, identify any potential medical conditions that could interfere with job performance, and verify that the candidate is capable of safely performing the essential duties of the position.

Completion and clearance of this physical are mandatory steps in the hiring process.
