PRIMARY PURPOSE:

To investigate claims against insurance or other companies for personal, casualty, or property loss or damages; and to attempt out-of-court settlements with claimants.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Handle complex losses locally up to designated authority; assist on larger losses, including accounting-based losses.
  • Examine claim forms and records to determine coverage.
  • Interview claimants and witnesses; review police and hospital records; inspect property damage.
  • Estimate repair, replacement, or compensation costs.
  • Prepare reports and negotiate settlements; recommend litigation when necessary.
  • Attend litigation hearings; revise case reserves; assist in preparing loss reports.
  • Maintain strong organizational skills; have litigation claims handling experience; CPCU/AIC certification preferred.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Perform other duties as assigned; support quality programs; travel as required.
Qualifications:

Education & Licensing: Bachelor's degree preferred; active state adjuster license; IIA-AIC designation and pursuit of additional certifications encouraged.

Experience: Minimum five years of related experience or equivalent.

Skills & Knowledge: Excellent communication, PC literacy, customer service, attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently or in teams.

Work Environment:

Includes physical activities like standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, and driving. Accommodations considered as needed.

Compensation ranges from $60,000 to $84,000 annually, with a comprehensive benefits package.
