About The Role

We are hiring a Commercial Excellence Director to lead top-line transformation for industrial portfolio companies in the U.S., with a base in Michigan. If you have a proven track record in sales optimization, pricing strategy, and restructuring within the automotive sector, this role offers the opportunity to drive real enterprise value through hands-on operational leadership.

As a key member of the performance improvement team within a leading European investment firm, you'll work directly with U.S.-based portfolio companies to analyze, redesign, and implement commercial strategies that unlock sustainable growth. You will play a central role in turnaround efforts post-acquisition and drive measurable improvement in sales execution, pricing models, and team performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support due diligence processes by assessing sales and pricing levers in potential acquisitions.
  • Post-deal, lead commercial transformations including process optimization, pricing strategies, and structural redesign.
  • Develop actionable strategies that drive competitiveness, profitability, and long-term enterprise value.
  • Build high-performing sales organizations tailored to specific market conditions.
  • Actively lead, coach, and motivate sales teams on-site at portfolio companies.
  • Travel 4 days per week to operational sites across the U.S.
Required Skills
  • University degree in Business, Engineering, Finance, or related technical/quantitative field.
  • 5–7+ years of experience in commercial excellence, sales strategy, or pricing transformation roles.
  • Demonstrated background in automotive or industrial sectors is essential.
  • Strong background in consulting or restructuring environments preferred.
  • Expertise in data-driven decision-making; fluency in Excel, Power BI, or Tableau.
  • Fluent in English; German is a plus.
  • High analytical acumen with a pragmatic, execution-focused approach.
  • Strong leadership and change management capabilities.
  • Must be willing and able to travel extensively within the U.S. (typically Mon–Thu).
