Job DescriptionCOMMERCIAL GENERAL CONTRACTOR SEEKING ESTIMATOR
Seeking an estimator that possesses the versatility to handle a wide range of estimating projects and tasks. Successful candidates will have the capacity to work with real estate owners, Project Managers, and subcontractors to provide accurate estimates and proposals in a fast-paced environment.
Our estimating team works together with architects, engineers, and subcontractors to develop pricing for a wide array of commercial construction projects. The estimator is ultimately responsible for establishing project budgets and ensuring that the best team is assembled on every project. The estimator handles all estimating duties, procedures, and functions, including but not limited to:
Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive subcontractor lists for each project, distribute RFP invitations to bid, and ensure accurate trade coverage.
- Order all drawings and specifications and distribute them to the plan room and subcontractors.
- Attend client job walks and schedule and manage job walks with subcontractors.
- Thoroughly examine plans and bid documents to determine constructability and uncover inconsistencies or discrepancies.
- Develop scopes of work for each trade to eliminate “gray areas” between bidding trades.
- Generate and submit RFIs to help clearly define missing scope and discrepancies in bid documents.
- Qualify subcontractor bids to ensure the scope of work is completely covered.
- Build complex spreadsheets linking various bid form templates.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 7 years of estimating experience on a wide range of construction projects. Experience in quantity takeoffs, purchasing, accounting, engineering design knowledge, and project management is desirable.
- Strong relationships with skilled trade subcontractors.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of plans/blueprints, contract documents, and specifications.
- Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Excel, Word, Project).
- Excellent English oral and written communication skills.
- Must have a valid driver's license and vehicle and be able to drive throughout Southern California for job walks.
- High attention to detail, strong organization, and excellent planning and time management skills are required.
- Ability and experience to manage multiple tasks under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines.
