Base pay range

$145,700.00/yr - $165,000.00/yr

In short, We Enable Possibility℠.Position OverviewThe Arch Insurance Claims Division is seeking a Claims Director to oversee injury claims from our Midcorp and Entertainment book of business. In this role, responsibilities include but not limited to actively managing and effectively overseeing assigned team members and Claims professionals on automobile/transportation claims related to coverage, liability, and damages.Primary ResponsibilitiesSpecific duties include but not limited to the below:

  • Review claim files regularly for quality. Track and monitor all statistical measures and behavioral indicators to evaluate Claims Reps performance (e.g. file review, audits, reports and complaints).
  • Coach and counsel employees on performance in a responsive and timely manner.
  • Resolve a variety of customer service issues through communication and interaction. Implement effective ways (internal/external) to monitor and evaluate customer concerns, issues, satisfaction, and anticipate customer needs.
  • Manage employee recruitment and development effectively. Identify and implement staff development and proactively manage training and performance as needed to support an effective team.
  • Lead meetings in collaboration with unit management to communicate goals with direct reports and reinforce/monitor behavior that furthers technical and customer service performance expectations.
  • Maintain knowledge of current industry developments and best practices.
  • Participate in committees and projects that will support the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Provide technical expertise and oversight and assure the prompt investigation, evaluation, and disposition of all third-party automobile property damage liability claims as well as automobile bodily injury, Med Pay, No-Fault, UM/UIM claims
  • Assure the prompt reserving of all claims managed within the automobile unit
  • Assist in the selection, training, and development of all employees within the unit
  • May attend mediations and trials of complex cases
  • Reviewing/editing timely/appropriate responses to Time Limit/Stowers/Policy Limit Demands
  • Complete automobile/transportation liability reserve reviews of accounts
  • Identify opportunities for loss cost reduction and support strategies that result in improved financial outcomes
  • Work on various claims related projects as needed
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree; advanced degree's beneficial
  • 2-5 years of supervisory experience a plus
  • Minimum of 10 years' working experience in the insurance industry handling automobile/transportation claims including coverage issues
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex coverage issues and draft coverage disclaimers/Reservation of Rights letters
  • 3+ years Auto Claims Audit experience
  • Hands-on experience and strong aptitude with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Exceptional communication (written and verbal), evaluating, influencing, negotiating, listening, and interpersonal skills to effectively develop productive working relationships with internal/external peers and other professionals across organizational lines
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, analytical, organizational, and time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to take part in active strategic discussions across stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Excellent presentation skills & demonstrated ability to make decisions in a team-based environment
  • Willing and able to travel 10%
For individuals assigned or hired to work in the location(s) indicated below, the base salary range is provided. Range is as of the time of posting. Position is incentive eligible.$145,700 - $165,000/year
  • Total individual compensation (base salary, short & long-term incentives) offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications, talent availability & specialization as well as business needs. The above pay range may be modified in the future.
