Coder I - CommonSpirit Health Philanthropy : Job Details

• The Coder I is responsible for abstracting and assigning valid CPT, ICD-9/10, and HCPCS codes to ensure appropriate reimbursement in accordance with federal, state, and private health plans, as well as organizational and regulatory guidance. This role typically involves less complex coding with oversight.
• Accurately abstracts information from service documentation, assigns, and sequences appropriate CPT, ICD-9/10, and HCPCS codes into billing systems, ensuring compliance with guidelines.
• Communicates professionally with providers, practice management, and other stakeholders verbally or in writing.
• Works on encounters in the coding work queue or task lists in a timely manner.
• Meets or exceeds organizational coding production and quality standards.
• Understands and applies regulatory changes, staying current with coding updates such as NCCI and MUE edits.
• Reviews and resolves coding denials.
• Participates in special projects and completes other duties as assigned.

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Coding Certification through AHIMA (CCS or CCS-P) or AAPC (CPC) preferred.

One (1) year of physician coding experience required.

Previous EHR experience preferred.

The estimated compensation range for this role is $37,294.40 - $55,952.00, based on current circumstances. Actual pay may vary.
