Job Location : Payson,AZ, USA
The purpose of this position is to ensure the safety and wellbeing of Gila County citizens and their properties, promoting a safe, clean neighborhood. This position conducts and reports on inspections, in addition to monitoring cases and preparing documents. The role also involves customer service duties, plan reviewing and permit issuance.
Essential duties and responsibilities include: conducting site inspections, verifying validity of complaints, composing reports, and opening cases; preparing notices of violations/summons and setting hearing and compliance dates; monitoring cases and reporting any changes; preparing documentation for cases required to go before a hearing officer; providing customer service; reviewing incoming plans and permit requests; interpreting county codes; and issuing permits.
Minimum education required is a high school diploma or GED. Minimum years of directly related experience required is two (2) years in code enforcement or familiarity with building codes. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
Knowledge required includes customer and personal service, building and construction, public safety and security, law and government, federal, state, local laws, regulations, and statutes. Skills required include communicating diplomatically, customer service, persuading and influencing, negotiating, problem recognition, problem solving, multi-tasking, typing and data entry. Abilities required include making sense of multiple data, multi-tasking, maintaining hand-eye coordination, maintaining calm demeanor in stressful situations, and reading and writing at a professional level.
Physical demands include regularly standing to attend to customers, routinely sitting to complete reports and operate computers, occasionally lifting under 10 lbs., occasionally lifting up to 75 lbs., rarely lifting over 75 lbs., rarely requiring dexterity for keyboard operation, and routinely bending. Work environment includes using standard office equipment, driving a motor vehicle to attend meetings and visit work sites, and working outdoors and in construction areas. Safety risk exposure includes telephone verbal abuse, physical danger, mechanical hazards, chemical hazards, electrical hazards, fire hazards, and extreme temperature. Protective gear and safety manuals are required to be followed. Consequences of error can cause inconveniences to other employees and delays in related work areas, with possible delays of services.
