Job Title: COBRA Analyst I Labor Grade: 8 Department: Department of Eligibility Reports To:Supervisor, Department of Eligibility FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Local 153) Salary Range: As established by contract Summary: COBRA Analyst I is required to determine COBRA eligibility and to process coverage continuation under COBRA according to the Funds policies and Federal guidelines. This position reports to the supervisor of the Department of Eligibility. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reviews COBRA election forms for completeness and accuracy.
- Generates and QAs COBRA election forms for mailing.
- Processes initial and subsequent COBRA payments.
- Understands the Fund benefit structure and its reimbursement policies.
- Updates V3 System and vendor portals as necessary.
- Handles eligibility verification requests from vendors.
- Meets production and quality standards.
- Understands workflows procedures and works with related departments as necessary.
- Generates letters to members on one off basis where needed.
- Tests system incidents and enhancements on all COBRA related items for compliance with Fund rules.
- Handles processing of Health Fund LTD and Disability Pension applications.
- Assists in the creation and maintenance of COBRA and Disability queries and reports.
- Analyzes discrepancies in performance and makes recommendations for resolution.
- Tracks, monitors and reports on COBRA related trends and defects.

- Be highly proficient in navigating through V3 Processing screens.
- Have a thorough knowledge of the administration of the 32 BJ Benefits plans and policies.

- Demonstrated capability to manipulate and use multiple software programs simultaneously including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- Ability to effectively operate in a fast-paced work environment, multitask and meet deadlines.
- Ability to prepare correspondence and edit various materials.
- Formatting memos, spreadsheets, mail merges, and reports.
- Excellent organizational and prioritizing skills.
- Detail oriented with excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Flexibility with work schedule.
- Research as needed.

Education and /or Experience: High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience or Health Care Customer Service background is a plus. Language Skills: Read, write and understand English.
