Job Role : Cobol Developer Location : Irvine , CA - 4 days a week from office Duration : Long Term Contract Qualifications
  • The preferred candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and a minimum of 10 years of experience as a Sr.Cobol Developer.
  • Experience with Fujitsu NetCobol or MicroFocus Cobol desired.
  • Experience with relational databases required (Sybase a plus).
  • MQ, Unix and Unix shell scripting a plus.
  • Solid experience in full software development cycle, including application architecture, technical specs, analysis, software development, testing large-scale software applications, assisting SQA teams with UAT testing, production support.
  • Experience in the financial industry with knowledge of trade flow and corporate actions a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication and strong team collaboration skills.
  • Good project management skills.
  • Possesses the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience testing software designed for elaborate business scenarios.
  • Aptitude for learning new things and flexibility to adapt and follow guidelines.

  • Is this role supporting a specific project or initiative, which project or initiative is this role supporting?
    • This position is to support the Investment Book of Records development team.
    • The candidate will develop and support existing and new functionality for our in-house suite of applications written in Cobol. Responsibilities will include hands-on development, analysis, architect high-end solutions, creation and execution of test plans according to State Street's published Development Process Framework. Additionally, the candidate will be expected to provide production support as necessary.
  • What will the interview process look like (phone screen, face to face, meet with team, how many rounds, etc)? Is there a test in the interview the candidate should be prepared for?
    • Zoom call (Audio & Video)
    • 2 to 3 rounds
    • SQL/Coding skill test (may apply)
  • What are the working hours, time zone? What are the schedule requirements (hybrid, remote)?
    • Preferably working hours 9:00 am to 6:00 pm - Pacific Standard Time
    • At least 4 days a week in the office
  • What is the duration of this contract and is there a chance it will be extended? : 12 to 18 months
  • What training will be provided for this contractor and what are first day expectations? : On first day, developer can expect an orientation session, introduction to company policies, and task-specific training. Additional guidance will be provided by team members as part of our onboarding process.
  • What is the day to day of the person going to look like? Please be specific. : Will get involved in full software development cycle, including analysis, design, writing technical specs, software development, testing large-scale software applications, assisting SQA teams with UAT testing and production support.
