Job Description :

The Coatings Inspector is responsible for continuous field supervision, coordination and production of vessel surface preparation personnel, including internal and subcontracted employees.

  • Demonstrated experience with U.S. Naval ship painting systems and U.S. Coast Guard ship painting systems.
  • Ensures adherence to coatings specification requirements, surface preparation, product application, testing of work, monitors coatings application and workmanship.
  • Approves field records, documents, registers and check sheets for project requirement acceptance.
  • Performs quality assurance for client ship painting systems and ensures they meet standards for critical coated areas including but not limited to: chain lockers, underwater hulls, tanks, voids, well deck overheads and other specified areas.
  • Proactively attends production meetings to interface with owner representatives and managerial staff.
  • Provides current project status and related information, and ensures on time completion and early action of any problems encountered.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all personnel adhere to safety rules and regulations.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; AMPP CIP Level 2 certification required; AMPP CIP Level 3 certification preferred. Additional preferred training/certification includes but is not limited to: NAVSEA NBPI certification; Marine Coatings Inspection Specialty enhancement to CIP certifications; Coast Guard Basic Paint Inspector Course; Marine Coatings Technology Course; S-CAT certification. A minimum of five years related experience and/or training; or the combination of education and experience that enables performance of all aspects of the position.
