Reports to: CNP Lunchroom Manager/ Assistant Manager
Job Goal: To ensure the efficient preparation and service of school meals by performing all assigned duties related to setting up, cooking, serving, cleaning, and maintaining inventory. Take responsibility for the proper storage and disposal of unused foods, adhere to work schedules, and complete all tasks cooperatively and effectively.
Duties:
- Assists in the preparation of food portions and cafeteria counters.
- Serves students and staff from the cafeteria counter.
- Run computerized point of sale software and collect money.
- Assists in the cleaning of counters, tables and furnishing in the dining area.
- Assures that all students are served equally the required portions.
- Prepares food according to the approved menu using standardized recipes.
- Provides a friendly atmosphere for students, faculty and guests.
- Uses food and supplies for school purposes and functions (unauthorized food use and/or removal from the school will be just cause for dismissal)
- Shows politeness and good manners when dealing with others.
- Assists with the daily cleaning of all kitchen equipment and the washing and sanitizing of all dishes, silverware and utensils.
- Ability to read and follow written and oral directions and do simple mathematics.
- Ability to think logically and systematically. Learn technical skills of quantity, food productions, use and care of equipment.
- Ability to work under pressure and time constraints.
- Ability to work with both hands when preparing food.
- Read and interpret recipes and instructions.
- Maintain a cooler, freezer, kitchen area and storage areas in an orderly and sanitary condition.
- Receive deliveries and check against purchase orders, using established procedures.
- Ability to use equipment times and control.
- Ability to use ingredient scaling equipment.
- Ability to be a safe food handler, free of diseases which may be transmitted by food.
- Follow and pass required sanitation standards and training.
- Ability to empty 50 gallon trash receptacles into an eight yard dumpster.
- Ability to lift 50 pound boxes of food.
- Ability to read chemical product sheets and follow required safety procedures while using and cleaning food preparation equipment.
- Ability to transfer extremely hot food pans from food preparation equipment to the serving area.
- Ability to use food preparation equipment that dice, mix, slice, cut, chop, fry, bake, steam, braise, broil and puree using required manufacturing safety recommendations.
- Ability to use a six foot ladder for weekly cleaning of kitchen ventilation systems.
- Ability to disassemble, clean and reassemble food preparation and cleaning equipment.
- Perform related duties as required, including duties at special meal functions.
- Any other duties as assigned by the Manager, Assistant Manager, Principal, Director or Superintendent.
Qualifications:
- Willingness to obtain a Food Handler's Card/ServSafe certification in a timely manner.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience in school food service preferred but not required.
- Effective communication with school staff.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
- Employment pending acceptable background check.
Evaluation: Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board policy on evaluation of personnel.
Salary Range: Salary is based on Board approved salary schedule based on rank, certification and experience. (Actual salary will be determined upon verification of experience.)
