Job Description:

Be part of the USPS Office of Chief Information Officer (CIO) Architecture, Strategy, & Innovation (CASI) team by contributing as a Cloud Solutions Architect through researching and producing enterprise architectural assessments that support all USPS business areas interacting with CASI. Responsibilities include: assessment, evaluation, requirements analysis, architecture, design, technical planning, process management, & reporting.
HOW A CLOUD SOLUTIONS ARCHITECT WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
- Providing in-depth knowledge in requirements elicitation, stakeholder engagement, application design, programming, testing, documentation, implementation, maintenance, and management.
- Researching, analyzing, and evaluating existing and proposed business systems and procedures.
- Ensuring requirements are met and deliverables comply with CIO architecture and business needs.
- Developing requirements and identifying system solutions in measurable terms for performance and cost-effectiveness.
- Writing architecture assessment documents.
- Understanding scripting or coding skills (e.g., shell, Python, Ruby, PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation, Chef, Puppet).
- Creating and submitting reports, analyses, advice, studies, evaluations, models, etc.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Required Experience:
- 15+ years of hands-on experience
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, or related field, or equivalent experience – not mandatory.
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in technical illustration tools such as draw.io, Microsoft Visio, PowerPoint.
- Practical experience with AI tools like ChatGPT, Anthropic, agentic AI approaches.
- Hands-on experience implementing cloud infrastructure, networks, compute, storage, virtualization.
- Expertise in cloud services from providers like AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud, with ability to integrate with on-premises technologies.
- High-level technical competence in solution architecture environments and tools.
- Strong communication skills, including writing and presenting.
- Ability to develop technical briefings for leadership.
Location:
- Must work from one of these locations with a hybrid schedule (4 days in-office, 1 remote): Washington DC, Eagan MN, St Louis MO, Wilkes-Barre PA, San Mateo CA, Raleigh or Morrisville NC.
Security Clearance:
- Must obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance, pass background screening, and meet residency requirements for U.S. citizens or non-citizens as specified.
