Ensures the appropriate labeling and timely delivery of lab specimens to the correct department within the hospital. Investigates missing and/or inappropriately labeled specimens. Answers phone, greets patients, and reports results to physicians and nursing staff. Provides coverage for general administrative duties, such as filing and mail delivery as needed. - - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - - Accessions specimens into computer system. Enters patient and billing information into the Omega computer system for outpatient specimens. Triages specimen processing according to grossing priority. Resolves specimen discrepancies in a timely manner, including contacting physicians and physician offices for information. Cleans and stocks the gross room, including running the dishwasher and stocking the gross stations. Supplies the gross room with liquid nitrogen. Provides the gross room personnel with supplies necessary to perform ancillary studies. Maintains awareness of when such studies are required....Support, Clinical, Tech, Healthcare, Specimen
