Under the direction of leadership, is accountable for provision of competent direct patient care based on established standards. Contributes to unit activities and supports enhancement of the care delivery system at the unit level. Supports peers in the delivery of patient care services and assumes an expanded role which may include charge nurse, preceptor, and committee member responsibilities. - - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - - Performs and documents patient care, medication administration, care plans, and patient education in a competent and efficient manner, following all policies and procedures. Identifies patient problems and collaborates in developing a plan of care based on existing standards and long-term goals. Implements age-specific, culturally, and spiritually competent nursing interventions to address patient/family needs and response to procedures, therapies, and medications.
