The core mission of the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at Indiana University in Bloomington is to unlock the mysteries of the human brain and behavior, and to prepare students to apply that knowledge to improve the lives of people around the globe. As a part of the College of Arts and Sciences (The College), we are a highly multidisciplinary department, with faculty and students carrying out research ranging from molecular neuroscience to artificial intelligence. We currently have over 70 full-time faculty, more than 30 department-serving staff members, 100 graduate students, 1800 undergraduate majors, 750 undergraduate minors, and offer 9 different undergraduate credentials, including a BS / BA in Psychology, a BS in Neuroscience, and certificate in Clinical Science. Job Summary Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Performs MR imaging, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), and electrophysiology (EEG) research in Dr. Davis's lab, under the supervision of Dr. Davis, focusing on oscillatory signatures of memory and brain health in healthy and demented human brain.
- Helps maintain TMS equipment and environment.
- Performs neuropsychological testing (NACC Battery, NIH Toolbox, MoCA).
- Performs behavioral analyses on questionnaires, demographic information, and behavioral tests, and integrating these data with neuroimaging measures.
- Works with a research team and manages study documentation.
- Proactively seeks opportunities to add relevant skills and certifications to own portfolio.
- Communicates with other staff/students about issues/situations that may arise regarding study procedures.
- Assists PI in proofing new study materials and suggesting modifications in wording or order, providing feedback based on previous contact with research subjects and materials.
General Responsibilities
- Initiates and conducts protocol review, evaluations, study design, and risk assessments of clinical research studies.
- Participates in study budget negotiations and reconciles study budget accounts.
- Develops informational materials for recruitment of subjects; monitors enrollment goals and modifies recruitment strategy as needed.
- Oversees and ensures compliance with regulations, including organizing electronic files and/or filing regulatory documents appropriately; prepares and submits Institutional Review Board (IRB) documents (i.e., Informed Consent, advertisement, protocol and protocol summary); prepares regulatory documents for sponsor.
- Identifies and selects potential subjects by reviewing existing protected health information, screening subjects, and conducting interviews; performs subject interviews and assessments for data required by protocol(s).
- Follows up on study documentation with necessary stakeholders (healthcare providers, study participants, laboratory personnel, etc.).
- Reviews incoming subject adverse event (SAE) information, assists PI in making submission determination of SAEs, and follows up to determine resolution of adverse events.
- Conducts study-related non-medical/behavioral assessments/interventions as well as study procedures/interventions (appropriate licensure may apply).
- Records, documents, and reports protocol deviations and trial changes to PI and sub-investigators.
- Stays up to date with knowledge of regulatory affairs and/or issues.

- Bachelor's degree in science or a health-related field and 2 years of clinical research experience; OR
- Associate's degree in science or a health-related field and 3 years of clinical research experience
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES Preferred
- SOCRA/ARCP Clinical Research Certification upon date of hire

Working Conditions / Demands The role regularly requires the ability to effectively communicate. The role frequently requires the ability to move about the work environment and to position oneself to operate laboratory equipment effectively. The role requires the ability to move objects weighing up to 25 pounds and will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
Additional Information This position is grant-funded and will be supported for the duration of the grant's life cycle or until the allocated funding has been fully expended.
