Job Summary We are looking for individuals to join our client's team as Clinical Laboratory Technologist - Blood Bank. You will perform all routine Blood Bank testing including pre-transfusion testing, compatibility testing, investigation of adverse transfusion reaction, resolving complex red cell antibody problems, key operator of the Ortho Provue instrument. Job Description

• Records and prepares test materials properly before each test according to departmental procedures.
• Ensures appropriate materials and reagents are available and valid (in date) for scheduled tests.
• Identifies and prepares specimens in accordance with appropriate lab procedures.
• Exhibits sound judgment in handling and reporting test results.
• Decides of normal and abnormal test values accurately.
• Promptly documents results in the hospital information systems and reports abnormal results via telephone.
• Ensures that labels on tubes correspond with labels on patient blood records and that tubes are signed by person drawing blood.
• Ensures that all tests are completed according to blood transfusion protocol. Records test results simultaneously.
• Performs transfusion reaction work-up on all patients that experience adverse reactions to transfusion; notifies Supervisor, Manager or Director.
• Performs compatibility testing to minimize harm to patients. Utilizes blood carefully to minimize discarding. Performs routine and full crossmatching, selects appropriate blood for transfusion, releases emergency crossmatches, and processes Rh Immune Globulin requests.

Skills Required

• 1 year of experience as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in a Blood Bank setting.

Education/Training/Certifications

• Valid license to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist issued by NYSED, primary Source Verification required.
• BLS preferred.

Additional Requirements

• Malpractice Insurance - All Credentialed Providers are required to have active individual Medical Malpractice.
• Shift Schedule: 12:00 AM - 8:00 AM

Pay Rate

• $62.00 per hour
