Clinical Laboratory Technologist, Core Laboratory, SL1-3 (per diem) - Stony Brook University : Job Details

Position Summary

At Stony Brook Medicine, a TH Clinical Laboratory Technologist/ Technician is a valuable member of our team, who provides who provides clinical services to our patient population. Will maintain specific knowledge of safe laboratory practices as endorsed by the New York State Department of Health and Occupational Safety and Health Administration and conducts oneself in a manner consistent with those practices to ensure the safety of all lab personnel. Qualified candidates will demonstrate superior patient care and possess outstanding communication skills while adhering to our high standard of excellence.

Duties of a TH Clinical Laboratory Technologist may include but are not limited to the following:

* Line responsibility for the performance of clinical analysis s in the Department of Laboratories.

* Perform routine instrument maintenance and troubleshooting as assigned according to established protocols to ensure proper instrument performance.

* Adhere to all quality control policies and procedures.

* Proficient in computer protocols as assigned.

* Adhere to all SBUH and departmental policies and protocols.

* Perform high complexity coagulation/chemistry testing using both manual and automated methods.

* Perform assays consisting of multiple dilutions requiring impeccable technique.

* Assist in implementing and validating new procedures.

* Actively engage in continuing education in order to enhance the department, including a willingness to attend conferences and offsite training whenever possible.

* Interact in a professional manner with nursing staff, physicians, support staff, peers and other members of the hospital community.

* Perform other clinical duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

SL-1: NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or documented eligibility including provisional/limited permit eligibility with 0-2 years of demonstrated relevant experience.

SL-2: NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or documented eligibility including provisional/limited permit eligibility with 3-5 years of demonstrated relevant experience.

SL-3: NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or documented eligibility, including provisional/limited permit eligibility with a minimum 6 years demonstrated relevant experience.

Preferred:

Generalist with a strong background in Hematology and Chemistry

Night Shift Experience

ASCP or Equivalent

Master's Degree

* Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine's Employee Health Services*

* Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references.

* Successfully complete a 4 panel drug screen*

* Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre employment screenings.

* Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).

Failure to comply with any of the above requirements could result in a delayed start date and/or revocation of the employment offer.

* The hiring department will be responsible for any fee incurred for examination.
