Job Title: Clinical Dietitian Cost Center: Clinical Nutrition Services Job Description: The Clinical Dietitian is responsible for clinical procedures at GPRMC, which include planning and delivering nutrition care to patients in accordance with the physicians' diagnoses and requirements of regulatory agencies. The Clinical Dietitian promotes nutrition to staff, visitors and to the public at large. The Clinical Dietitian functions as a member of the multi-disciplinary healthcare team to identify patients at nutritional risk, and has the knowledge and skills necessary to assess patients of all ages and modify treatment plans accordingly. Minimum Qualifications oEducation oBachelor degree in Food and Nutrition or equivalent required. oCredentials oCurrent Nebraska license to practice as a Medical Nutrition Therapist. Current registration with the Commission on dietetic Registration required. Physical Demands 1.Stand and/or walk six hours per day. 2.Sits two hours per day. 3.Bend and reach throughout shift. 4.Visual acuity, color vision, manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination are required. Essential Functions 1.Interprets and applies practice guidelines from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics in nutritional assessment and care-planning activities for patients, according to their age, learning needs, culture and disease-specific needs. 2.Develops and implements an appropriate nutrition care plan for all assigned patients. 3.Continuously evaluates and monitors the effectiveness and outcomes of medical nutrition therapy intervention. Completes comprehensive patient reassessments, addressing previously identified nutrition-related problems. 4.Function as an integral member of the clinical interdisciplinary team. 5.Identify and provide age-specific nutrition education/counseling to inpatients/outpatients and family members. Documents education in the medical record. 6.Provides Diabetic Education to inpatients. Education provided may include diabetic survival skills, blood glucose monitoring instruction or insulin injection instruction. 7.Actively participates in health and nutrition promotion activities both within the hospital and in the community, speaking to community groups and responding to media requests. 8.Coordinates nutrition care for outpatient services, including diabetes education*, cardiac rehab, behavioral health, and other areas as needed. When working in Diabetes Education must meet continuing education requirements to teach in an American Diabetes Association-certified program. 9.Demonstrates commitment to continual learning, growth, and development. Actively assesses, evaluates, and maintains professional development and competency. Documents professional development activities in CDR Professional Development Portfolio. Join us. Join great.
