The Clinical Assistant's primary job function it to perform general duties for the department, supports each strategic value by providing excellent care to those we serve. The Clinical Assistant may perform a variety of basic patient care activities in a caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients. Performs other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONSEducation: High School Diploma or successful completion of an equivalent High School Exam Required Clerical vocational training preferredLicensure: N/AExperience: Previous secretarial experience preferred.JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONSThe following is a summary of the major job duties of this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time. 1. Welcomes and greets those coming on the unit.2. Enters and updates Vocera staff assignment.3. Serves as a resource for others in using CPOE.4. Assists with data entry/order entry as needed.5. Assist with maintaining department correspondence.6. Gathers and distributes department mail as needed.7. Answers, screens, and refers incoming calls and visitors, and responds to general inquires and proper documentation.8. Assists with ordering/stocking of department office supplies.9. Prepares various reports as required.10. Assists with maintaining department related records, files, and manuals; handling significant volumes of confidential data.11. Copies various reports and records.12. Maintains patient environment and performs routine cleaning tasks in nursing unit/patient rooms.13. Assist with basic patient care activities.14. Observes patients and reports unusual conditions and/or reactions to the nurse.15. Assists with admissions, discharge, and transfer of patients.16. Answers call lights and responds to patient needs.17. Documents according to policy.18. Schedule patient follow-up appointments at discharge.19.
