With the power of many curious minds, together we can solve the world's most complex challenges and deliver more impact together.Role description:Arcadis is seeking an experienced Civil/Environmental Engineer to support an expanding portfolio of Energy Transition projects in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern regions of the United States. The successful candidate will collaborate with scientists, engineers, project managers, and technical experts on various activities in support of environmental permitting and design projects for several Arcadis clients, including various energy development projects, including electrical transmission, natural gas pipeline, and renewable energy projects. The position will require experience with federal and state environmental permitting. The successful candidate will also provide support associated with regulatory agency coordination and design/permit development and compliance. Projects are often fast-paced, multi-faceted, and geographically diverse. The position will require a candidate to work both collaboratively with a team of specialists and have the capacity to balance varying priorities and tasks to work on multiple projects concurrently and meet deliverable deadlines. You will also work with existing staff to support the growth of various energy development projects, including electrical transmission, natural gas pipeline, and renewable energy projects. Role accountabilities:As a Civil/Environmental Engineer, you will apply your technical knowledge to work with local, national, and global technical and client teams to provide high quality deliverables to support planning, design, and permitting for major utility and key Arcadis clients.
  • Lead (with PM guidance) the development of engineering designs for permitting or construction purposes, including design drawings, technical specifications, presentations, cost estimates, proposals, land development planning, hydraulic modeling/calculations, erosion and sediment control evaluations and layout, and earthwork site design.
  • Use your strong technical writing and communications skills to develop technical documents and reports, work plans, memoranda, and other environmental documents to support design/permitting activities. Likely to include the preparation of regulatory permit application packages, participation/facilitation of meetings, and coordination of work schedules with colleagues, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Provide project management support to manage project financials and assist with the growth of new and existing client relationships through delivery of quality work and data.
  • Maintain electronic file systems and record keeping using SharePoint and other cloud-based platforms. Proficient with Microsoft Office-based software programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
This role will primarily be office based; however, as needed, you will need to conduct field assignments, including assisting in the field with construction, inspections, and participating in face-to-face client, technical, and other stakeholder meetings.   • Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering or closely related field, successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, and a minimum of five years of professional experience in the civil/environmental field.
  • Experience leading civil or environmental projects, including land development, erosion and sediment control, and stormwater permitting design teams.
  • Experience with evaluating project compliance with state and federal laws and environmental and regulatory processes.
  • Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive designs/reports/permit applications.
  • Fluent with AutoCAD, Autodesk Civil 3D, or other terrain modeling design software and experience with hydrologic/hydraulic modeling (e.g., HydroCAD, WinTR-55, PondPack, HEC-RAS).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master of Science in Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering or closely related field
  • Professional Engineering license(s) and/or Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control, VADEQ-Certified Plan Reviewer and Inspector for Erosion and Sediment Control or VADEQ-Certified Plan Reviewer and Inspector for Stormwater Management.
  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER training.
