The Associate Planner administers land development regulations of the city and the City's Comprehensive and Area/Specific Plans to guide future growth and development of the City. Assists in various day-to-day Community Development functions including customer service, general administration, and planner-of-the-day activities. May provide assistance with long-range planning initiatives, administrative functions of CDBG, and other Federal grant programs, and represent the City through regional planning activities.
Senior PlannerThe Senior Planner provides oversight of the administration of land development regulations and the City's Comprehensive and Area/Specific Plans to guide future growth and development of the City. Provides day-to-day management of current-planning projects and supervision, performs and manages complex and sensitive professional planning projects, research, and analysis. Advises the Assistant City Development Director and City Development Director on all planning-related matters.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Associate Planner: Education: Graduation from a recognized College or University with a Bachelor's degree in planning, landscape architecture, public administration, geography, architecture, civil engineering, environmental sciences, or a closely related field. Experience: 0-2 years of land use planning experience, including internships; experience in a municipal government environment and customer service, is preferred. Licenses and Certificates: Valid, lawful driver's license is required at the time of appointment.
Senior Planner: Education: Graduation from a recognized College or University with a Bachelor's degree in planning, transportation planning, public administration, urban geography, architecture, civil engineering, environmental sciences, landscape architecture, or a closely related field. A Master's degree in Planning or Public Administration may be substituted for two years of the non-specialized required experience. Experience: Four years of increasingly responsible professional land use planning experience. Planning-related experience with a local government is preferred. Licenses and Certificates: Valid, lawful driver's license is required at the time of appointment.
