Are you a detail-oriented professional who values accuracy, integrity, and public service? The City of Bridgeton is seeking a dynamic and highly organized City Clerk to join our leadership team. This vital role supports transparent and accountable local government through exceptional records management, meeting coordination, and elections oversight. About the Role: As City Clerk, you will serve as a trusted liaison between city staff, elected officials, and the public. You'll be responsible for managing official city records, coordinating City Council meetings, and preparing accurate agendas and minutes. You'll administer local elections, oversee the issuance of various licenses and permits, and ensure compliance with all relevant laws and policies. Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with city staff, elected officials, and the public with professionalism and integrity.
  • Coordinate and document City Council meetings, including agenda preparation, public notices, and detailed minutes.
  • Maintain and safeguard public records in accordance with state and local laws.
  • Administer municipal elections, ensuring compliance and transparency in the electoral process.
  • Process liquor and other city-issued licenses and permits.
  • Promote accuracy and efficiency in all administrative processes and public communications.
  • Uphold the highest standards of transparency, confidentiality, and ethical conduct.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in municipal government, public administration, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of records management practices and open records laws.
  • Familiarity with election procedures and licensing/permitting processes preferred.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain integrity and professionalism in a public-facing role.
Experience: Minimum of three years' experience in a public/municipal field. Prior experience as a City Clerk or Deputy City Clerk is preferred.
