SUMMARY: With supervision, provides the Residential program to students across varied locations throughout the entire campus.Essential Functions:Develop, implement, and evaluate residential based individualized education programs for designated students which may require the ability to push and pull in access of 100 pounds, and to lift in excess of 50 pounds with assistance.Works with the case manager to coordinate services delivered to students.Teach daily living and leisure time use skills which may require the ability to physically handle and assist other persons in the performance of daily living activities.Identify student needs and arrange for them to be met which may require the ability to observe and react to environmental stimuli.Collect data and prepare reportsMarginal Functions:Operates motor vehicles in relation to student trips and emergencies.Performs additional duties as assigned.CONDITIONS: Equipment Used: Standard household appliances, telephone, typewriter, computer, copier, intercom, adaptive and orthopedic equipment, motor vehicles and a variety of instructional and recreational equipment.Performance Standard: Must assure 100% compliance with health and safety standards, and a personal commitment to integration, coordination, and implementation of student programs.Work Environment: Multiple indoor and outdoor environments around and off campus including swimming pool, with varying sound, lighting, and temperature conditions. May be exposed to childhood & other communicable diseases, and behavior outbursts.Work Schedule: Thirty seven and a half (37.5) afternoon/evening hours, 1:30PM-10:30PM Monday- Thursday, 11:30AM-3:30PM Friday with two 15 minute duty free breaks scheduled each full workday; flextime within work day and work week is occasionally required as is overtime. This position follows a standard 11-month school schedule.RequirementsQUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge, skills, and general abilities:General knowledge of residential care theory and practice, and its application to educating and training students with multiple disabilities and visual impairment/blindness.Basic knowledge of health care and maintenance programs, personal skills training methods, and behavior management techniques.Requires HS Diploma or GED equivalency. AA Degree or higher preferred.Basic knowledge of interdisciplinary team concept and the Case Management system.Basic knowledge of programs for assigned students.Maryland driver's license.Operate motor vehicles in relation to student trips and emergencies.Within six months in this position, the employee is required to have:Residential Child and Youth Care Practitioner Certification.Successful completion of the Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Program.Successful completion of the New Employee Orientation program.General knowledge of interdisciplinary team concept and the Case Management system.General knowledge of programs for assigned students.3-D driver approval.CPR certification.
