Diakon Behavioral Health Services offers a range of counseling and behavioral services to children, teens, families and adult individuals. Services are provided through counseling centers in Mechanicsburg, Lewisburg, Montoursville, Williamsport, within several public-school buildings and Chester County. Specialized programs include family-based mental health services, provided in the community and in-home, addiction counseling, trauma-focused therapy and SPIN, a service designed to assist children and youths who have problematic sexual behaviors. General Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the recruitment of resource families for special needs children available for adoption in the Harrisburg region.
- Works with Corporate Communications to develop, design and place advertisements in accordance with marketing plan.
- Accepts telephone calls from potential families and shares information on the child while collecting information indicating the appropriateness of the applicant.
- Participates in evaluation activities, sees each child on his/her caseload at least once monthly, and communicates with the child's county caseworker regularly.
Education/Training: A bachelor's degree in social service or a related field of study normally required; A Master's Degree preferred. Experience: A minimum of three (3) year's human services experience normally required; experience in adoption and child specific recruitment preferred. ADA: Ability to sit, stand, bend, stoop, reach, and lift items weighing up to 25 lbs.; visual and auditory skills.

Staff receive excellent training through a comprehensive paid general orientation including customer service training.
