Wor-Wic Community College is accepting applications for a full-time childcare teacher to create and manage an environment conducive to the learning and safety of children enrolled at the child development center.Duties include providing classroom instruction for three- or four-year old students; preparing lessons, assignments and instructional materials; selecting and using appropriate instructional strategies including, but not limited to, group discussions, demonstrations, modeling and multimedia teaching aids; maintaining classroom management conducive to effective learning and taking all necessary safety precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities; assisting with breakfast, lunch, snack, cleanup, clothing and toilet training; and communicating information about classroom activities and/or concerns to parents.This position is considered a mandatory reporter for the Department of Human Services.Requirements include an associate degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field or 30 hours of approved coursework; two years of supervised experience working with preschoolers in an approved setting; excellent human relations, verbal and written communications, preschool teaching and activity development skills; ability to work with small children; demonstrated communication skills for childcare professionals; and ability to complete at least 12 clock hours of continuing education per year.Preference will be given to candidates with a bachelor's degree.Must be at least 18 years old; pass criminal and child protective services background checks and a pre-employment medical examination; and be approved by the Maryland Department of Education, OCC; and hold current first aid and infant and child CPR certification (or obtain immediately after hire).
